"Devil’s Smile" by Glen Hirshberg - A sailor's craft is caught on a sandbar in bad weather and his father and wife go out in a rowboat to attempt to retrieve him. Once he is in the rowboat they head back to shore but are overturned. The wife is initially disoriented after being hit in the head with an oar but eventually stands in the three foot deep water. She starts walking towards the shore and when she looks back at the rowboat she is astonished to see it right side up, its oars set, and the water beneath it calm. She doesn't see her husband's father anywhere. She sees her husband scuttle up to her sideways like a crab which surprises her as she was under the impression that he had died before entering the rowboat. When she looks into its eyes she understands that her husband is now a zombie. She isn't attacked and figures that is because it had recently eaten.
